Clinics, Lessons, & Performances

BOXbeats Clinics.

Customized for percussionists, other musicians and non-musicians alike, each "BOXbeats" clinic is designed to give participants knowledge and experience on cajon performance techniques. Clinics can range in length and topic based on your needs, including:

  • Basic to advanced techniques.

  • Pop and traditional beat patterns.

  • Accessories and amplifying.

Inside the BOX Clinics.

Geared towards music educators, "Inside the BOX" workshops give teachers the tools to use the cajon in their music classroom or ensemble, regardless of their prior knowledge of the instrument or percussion performance. Workshops can range in length and topics, including:

  • History of the instrument.

  • Basic techniques and patterns.

  • Accessories and resources.

  • Ideas for use in the ensemble or classroom.

I am also available for clinics and sessions on jazz drumset, concert and jazz performance, and using music technology in the music ensemble classroom.  I can also be contacted for professional development sessions on"Thinking Inside the BOX" for educators, business professionals and leaders - a session on discovering the inner talents and strengths of those you work with, using the cajon as a metaphor for the topic.

Lessons

Live in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor (MI) area?  Contact me for lessons on cajon, drum set or orchestral percussion. Rates vary based on location of lesson and length of lesson.  Live outside the Ypsi/A2 area, let's talk about how we can arrange for Skype or Google Hangout sessions.

Performance Opportunities

In addition, I am available for performance opportunities on cajon, drum set, and orchestral percussion. My primary focus as a performer is in jazz, musical theater, and contemporary worship music.  I am equally comfortable in pop, rock, country and blues on drum set, and in orchestral percussion performance settings.

To request information regarding a clinic, schedule a clinic for your school/site, or to inquire regarding either lessons or performance opportunities, contact me by email at jimmobley79@gmail.com, or reach me on Facebook @boxbeats79, or Twitter @boxbeats79.
